eCast has built into its eCast ESV and eCast EMR a wicked-cool transport layer known as mdEmail. Why is this important? Essentially while meaningful use provides the architecture for sending data to and from the physician in your network, getting all the vendors synchronized is pretty difficult. We acknowledge that all of us are working toward the utopia of harmonious communication, but frankly we believe that it's years away. So while we all continue to build toward that pinnacle, eCast has found the perfect answer in mdEmail. And mdEmail works now, as in today.
With .mdEmail®, physicians can use their own EHR (or any of the eCast EHR products) to create the patient record in "exportable" format - e.g.: CCR/CCR. Then press a button, pick the recipient physician, and .mdEmail® it away. The data goes securely (yes, it's really encrypted and really secure) to the other side and is then viewable using the CCR viewer on the other EHR system, or it can be read using other built-in tools.
